A common rite of passage for tourists in Thailand is to go and watch ladies shoot ping pong balls out of their lady parts. These bizarre performances are known as Ping Pong shows, and it is almost impossible to walk down Khao San Road or through the Red Light District of Patpong without being approached by a man with a laminated list and a cheeky grin who promises you the night of your life for only baht. You see, every single item on this list refers to something that a woman will do onstage, with her private parts, for your entertainment. Of course, the natural response to seeing a list like this while being both a little tipsy and a total travel newbie is to frown for a moment while the cogs in your brain begin putting the pieces together, look at your travel buddies with a mixture of both horror and intrigue, before turning to the dude with the list and saying hell yeah, sign me up! This, my friends, is how I found myself paying to go and see a Ping Pong show in Bangkok, back in I was on holiday!
How I almost got kicked out of a Sex Ping Pong Show in Thailand
What is a ping pong show? Read this before going to a ping pong show.
Ping-pong in Bangkok shows are sex shows; strip shows, in other words, exhibited by women wearing either bikinis or bras and inserting objects, inflating or ejecting them using their vaginas. These objects can vary from being ping-pong balls, chopsticks and darts to razors, candles and cigarettes. Some might beg to differ. Most of the places are infused with women around the age of 40 and young and older men alike who come to watch. Although, some of the clubs do have beautiful Thai women dressed up in glittery clothes, wings or bikinis putting up an excellent presentation for you. Most of the managers and people from strip clubs who lure you into them will agree to the price you say at first, but later on, refuse of having had any such negotiation. These prices can be deflected as much as 90 per cent.
Should You See a Ping Pong Show in Bangkok?
I was horribly , horribly naive about the realities of prostitution in Thailand, and am only sharing my experience in the hopes that what I learned from it will help educate others on the subject and keep them from making the same mistake that I did when I was in Bangkok. So that first night, after an amazing introductory dinner of Pad Thai and green vegetable curry, my friends and I headed over to Soi Cowboy, one of these such streets. There were old white men walking down the street with young Asian women on their arms, women throwing themselves at tourists as they walked by, and bar patrons coupled up with prostitutes at every table down the block. None of the women seemed to look older than I left the show early, feeling sick to my stomach about what I had just witnessed.
I give you deal. Buy one drink and you see all the acts! You not get this kind price from anyone else.
